Peter Miller was born into fishing. His father taught him the art on the waters of upstate New York, and their family vacations in Florida only served to pique his interest. Peter expanded into fly fishing while studying at the University of Miami and was named the youngest-ever Angling Director of the prestigious Miami Beach Rod and Reel Club in 1993.
He’s a nationally renowned television host with his program Bass 2 Billfish with Peter Miller, which appears weekly on "NBC Sports" and the "World Fishing Network". Bass 2 Billfish has taken him to some of the most remote and plentiful fishing spots the world over, fishing everything from mahi to grouper. He’s also a founding member of the “Get Lit Fishing Team” – a tournament fishing team, which has become one of the most successful sailfishing teams in South Florida history. Some of their notable wins include three-time World Sailfish Champions, four-time winners of the Silver Sailfish Derby, three-time Cheeca Lodge Presidential Sailfish Tournament winners, three-time K-Rock Classic winners as well as winners of the Captain Bob Lewis Billfish Challenge, Florida Swordfish Series, Dewar’s 12 Billfish Championships, Miami Raft Invitational, and others. Peter himself has netted numerous individual angling awards and is a three-time back-to-back divisional winner of the World Billfish Series.
More than a mere fisherman, Miller is a man for all seasons and a genuine family man. He currently resides in Miami, Florida, and enjoys spending his time with his two children, classic cars, playing the Djembe, and paddleboarding.

What goes through your head when you first wake up in the morning when you go fishing?
I like to make sure everything is methodically checked. Knots tied and trimmed perfectly, hooks sharpened, leaders are the same length on all rods, tackle is organised in boxes, and the YETIs are packed with ice!
Where is your favourite place to fish?
Miami is my favourite place because I can regularly target permit, bonefish, tarpon, snook, sailfish, mahi, tuna and swords. How can you beat that!?

If there is any love-hate relationship with any aspect of what you do, can you describe what that is?
I will fish if the conditions are right: no matter what, sick as a dog, no sleep. And sometimes I won't sleep for 3 days, between staying out fishing until I catch the desired fish, then having meetings the next morning - and that continues for days on end. Then I get sick and pay the price (laughs). So yes…love and then hate.
What sound or noise do you love?
When the drag is ripping smoothly off the reel with a big fish hooked up, and the sound when a large fish takes to the air and lands with an audibly loud slap on the water.
What would be your day job if you weren’t doing what you are currently doing?
Selling and marketing. But that's what I do now to keep my show alive.
