Flip Pallot

Mims, Florida

Before we had a company, we had a teacher, and that teacher was Flip Pallot. After spending “way too long” in banking, Flip left the corporate world and started a guiding and fishing career. This second profession blossomed to include several television shows starring Flip, including the lauded The Walker’s Cay Chronicles. Flip’s a published author, celebrated guide and casting instructor, rod designer, founder of Hell’s Bay Boatworks, fly expert, product consultant, and sage source of life advice. Without Flip, there’s no doubt in our minds that YETI wouldn’t be where it is today.
What goes through your head when you first wake up in the morning?
My days’ activities are generally planned at least the day before. On wonderful exceptions, the planning takes place in dreams.
Where is your favourite place?
I experience my most creative moments in my garage (which I think of as my secret laboratory)!
How do you up your game year after year?
I try not to try! The wisdom gained year after year seems to have something to do with it. I think marrying a younger woman helps!
Who are your heroes?
I admire the likes of : Lefty Kreh, Stu Apte, Randy Wayne White, Tom McGuane, and Pee-wee Herman.
If you could bring anybody in the world with you to do what you love (dead or alive), who would it be?
I expect, my dad...Who never got to see me shine.
What sound or noise do you love?
Turkey gobble, elk whistle, surface strike of snook, V-twin motorcycle engine, and the action of a fine rifle.
